The Courtship Series These books are written to encourage those who intend to follow a Biblically-based courtship that includes the active involvement of parents. The main characters are committed followers of Jesus Christ, and Christian family values are emphasized throughout. The reader will be encouraged to heed parental advice and to live in obedience to the Lord. The books can be read individually and in any order, but we are providing a recommended reading order for those who wish to read the McLean books in chronological order. The courtship books were primarily written to be read by young women of about ages 13 to 17, to help them establish their own standards and patterns of thinking for godly relationships in the future. Young men are also welcome to read them, although the girls are usually most interested in them. Sometimes the books are used as read-aloud to the family time by our customers. These books can be used to begin discussions of your own family’s thoughts and plans for handling the time of life in which young men and women begin searching for a godly spouse. The Waiting for Her Isaac book is about a totally different family and situation than the three books about the McLean family.

No television, no movies, no disrespect, no feminism, no nothing! " From a review by Cathy White in An Encouraging Word, July 1996. "Thank you for writing and publishing such a needed book! . . . I was often encouraged as a mother to love my children more. I felt this book was not only a book for young women but also ‘older women.' I was very pleased with all the characters and how the good qualities were lifted up, and ungodly revealed as such." Illinois "I was especially pleased when I read the copyright date, for I have found good- quality books to have been written 75-100 years ago and have had to rely on companies having them reprinted. Thank you for this ministry; may our good Lord richly bless you!" Nevada "This book is a refreshing change from contemporary books written for teen girls, and one parents will appreciate too. . . The book features a good discussion on character traits and how these traits affect the marriage relationship. This is a good book for families to read together. It paints an excellent picture of everyday Christian home life. We really liked it." From a review in In Keeping With the Faith, Nov-Dec. 1996, p. 18.

ISBN 1-891907-15-8 “I can so clearly sense the godliness in the way it was written. I loved reading it because of the way that Janet has a devoted heart to God but yet is so human at the same time. It was so easy to relate to her - it was like her thought process was my own!” Pennsylvania “. . . Wonderful, delightfully written! With each turn of the page it was as if I was reliving in a similar way the path the Lord chose for me to walk this past year . . . a path of suffering nearer to God’s heart.” California “One thing I could not get over was how real it was. What a treat to get to read this book, this glimpse into your own heart. Journey of the Heart resonated with honesty. I liked how her parents interacted with her. I thought that was excellent. I appreciated that her struggle is so real - it does not instantly go away when she tells her parents about it, yet that was definitely the right choice. Janet comes full circle and though her struggles aren’t over, she knows Who strengthens her.” Natalie Nyquist, author of Quest for the High Places. "I was really impressed with your book! Of all the books I have read regarding boy-girl relationships, yours comes the closest to the way I was raised." New York

Even with our wide age spread (11, 14, 16, 50, 55), it has kept us laughing and praising the Lord for a book so filled with His ways." Oregon "A cheerful, lively family. A daughter happy with her life just as it is. A flurry of unforeseen, and -- to 16-year-old Beth Grant -- unwelcome, changes robbing her of the pleasantries she's used to, and slowly shifting her focus to what's truly important . . . Her own imperfection makes the ensuing events, and her struggles and victories throughout, particularly encouraging . . ." From a review in HopeChest Magazine, Aug/Sept 1997, p. 17. "I would like to thank you for that book. It is a wonderful book. It was the first book (not including my Bible) that was Godly from cover to cover that I have read in the 14 years that I have called myself a Christian." California |
